Well done Keith - you're an inspiration to me. I've got your book but would love you to write/publish one on your favourite endings from your own games with a littering of maybe your peers, such as Ulf Andersson.

I read nothing but praise and encouragement from Nigel's post.
It does appear he ran his experienced eye over a bland score and final position
without knowing all the off the board facts. Who has not done that. (see below).

Was written by Nigel but he was quoting someone else.

Anyone who claims they have never had the swimming pieces and felt totally
knackered during a long session is not putting their all into the game.
It's an awful feeling. You cannot see or feel the thread, you simply do not know what is going on.

And as for Nigel only coming awake in the 2nd half of the '93 match.
He was awake from game one in that match and in his own words from above "... you have to go for it."

You are reading the bland score of the match. Those games were close and hard fought. 'He went for it.'

Could do with a few of those exciting games from the 1st half of the '93 match in the coming Carlsen - Anand encounter.

In many of the games with White, Short was hitting Kasparov with stuff which would have knocked over anybody else. Short had also beaten Karpov in a match. A phenomenal result. Just ask Garry how hard it is to beat Karpov in a match!

I didn't read the post by Short as anything other than praise of Keith and puzzlement as to why a little more effort couldn't be given. It turns out there was nothing more to give.
