Basque Chess

There is an event going on in the World Mind Games in Beijing called Basque Chess. The players play against each other in two simultaneous games, one with white and one with black. There are quite a few reports and pictures that give you an idea of what its like to play in one. Having never played in one myself (has there ever been one in the UK?) I don't know whether I would like it but it does look like a lot of fun. In addition to that there look to be quite a few other advantages:
- It would surely reduce the chances of cheating without changing the nature or rules of the game
- You get two games for the price of one
- The advantage of the colour is gone as you get white and black
- Finally, there looks to be a bit of actual fitness required, long arms and legs perhaps being an advantage and wearing trainers might help as you go from one board to another. In one of the reports you can see a woman struggling with high heels. Perhaps this type of chess could be developed into an Olympic sport?
