I like 3-1-0 but am not sure it works over such a short run as seven rounds?

Are they allowed to stop the clocks for a draw offer?

I suppose in the Short-Hua game it was quicker and easier to play out the moves (it would only take as long as writing them down), than to go and fetch the arbiter.

I suppose it's instructional in a way to see rather tedious level positions actually being played out - at least it gives some insight into what ideas might be lurking beneath the surface (if any).

I see on the playchess live games that Mickey Adams has played d4 and started Short's clock!

A sneaky move that!

In which case Hua would be a4, Howell b4, and Naka c4?

Carl,
It looks like Luke has out prepared Nakamura, so I guess we have hope!

I know he has black, but still a little disappointing to see kramnik seemingly happy to have a short draw with Howell as black (Qb3 Na5 Qa4 Nc6 Qb3 etc). I'd have thought given the rating difference and the fact that he trails Carlsen he'd be making a big effort to win today. At the same time, much credit to Howell for playing for the win. Hope he's rewarded for it.
