Do we have a name for this?

Hi all, I was playing on line earlier and went to play a my rook on the 8th rank in an endgame but unfortunately as I was moving the mouse either it malfunctioned or I accidentally took my finger off the button momentarily, the result being it went to the 7th rank instead where it was immediately captured by a bishop, causing me to lose the game. This is not the first time this has happened, however, it wasn't a blunder as such because I didn't intend to play that move. Do we have a name for this yet? A mouse-slip perhaps?

"Fingerfehler" (rhymes with "finger sailor") from the German for "finger error".
This is very old terminology because it is something you can do without a mouse as well and has always been common.

This is yet another area where chess engines have the advantage - however quickly they are playing, they always make the move that they intended!

It's just that it was a technological error as my mouse is the worse for wear owing to the fact that my daughter likes to play with it and broke the buttons, now they have a life of their own! Not so long ago I played someone in the 2200's who walked into a mating net with his king, I can't help but feel he was also a victim of a dodgy mouse!

I suppose this is what they call a first world problem!

Unless it's a problem with the technology; it can only be deemed a problem with the users ability!
