Thank you. In addition, would it be possible to have results reported from other sections, especially where forumites are competing? (For example, R de C plays in the over-50s.)

Find the forumites - involves looking through the list of about 1,000 entries.

Spot the forumite - just involves watching out for those who do something of note or of interest.

At least before the round actually starts, Akshaya v David Coleman looks like the most interesting pairing to me, and not just because David is the sole (!) Barbican player in the Championship section.

GM Mark Hebden v 12-year-old Anthony Zhang could be worth a look too - if only to see what Zhang's coach(es) have advised him to play against the Barry Attack?

Watching on chess24.com where eight games are available.
Hebden-Zhang is top board and Zhang has avoided the Barry with 1...d5 2 Nf3 Nf6. They are in a Slav (slow line with 4 e3).

Chess24 are also relaying the games - link for round 1 here. Personally, I prefer the display and there's also engine analysis from Stockfish.

Yes he is. Taking on g4 was suicidal says the engine at chess24. Gormally in a spot of bother too?

As someone has tweeted, the pairing lists keep changing at chess24 - now 12 boards but the Kalavannan game is showing no moves after 1 d4. Is the opponent late or has it broken down?
The games at the official Brit Ch site are not all the same.
Teething troubles, hopefully will be sorted before the big guns meet later in the week.

Andrew & Ravi have started by shadowing David Howell v. Malcolm Peacock in a Modern Benoni...

Chris Ward is facing John Edge's Benko Gambit!?

Impressed with Black's opening play in this one even if White is probably a little better now at move 39, I'm taking notes having suffered often with Black against Heb in this line :)
