Hello. Our province chess association is planning to hold and international event.
The association's president is still trying to find sponsors and so nothing is set. It is the first time he (and also the chess association) wants to hold such an event. So he first wants to see how much will the cost be for inviting say 3 GMs.

Hi, it is difficult to get an answer to your question as it has too many possibilities.
Where is the tournament organised?
Do you have local GMs?
3 The cost to get a GM may vary as it depends how far does he have to travel, what are the chances to win a prize, Is accommodation provided?...and so on
4 Try to invite as many local (or neighboring countries)GMs as possible and some of them may come just for the exposure and the chance to win a prize

I live in Shiraz in Fars province, southwest of Iran.
Tournaments in the northern part of the country invite GMs from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, etc.
Iran has 7-8 GMs, one of which is playing in Fars championship now .
It is about 2000 km from here to Yeravan

I suspect that this Forum is not the best place for you to enquire.
There are a number of posters who have experience of organising such tournaments in England and other Western countries. However, the geographical and political considerations applicable to your country and province are so different as to make their expertise of limited value.
The closest countries with suitable GMS are Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. I simply don't know whether it would be feasible for players from those countries to come to Fars.
I don't know if you are aware that the Asian Continental Championships are currently taking place in Al Ain, UAE. There are Iranian participants. For details please see

I would suggest that you seek advice either from your own Federation or from the Asian Chess Federation (
http://www.asianchess.com/).
I wish you every success.
