I saw Pawn Sacrifice in Gibraltar during the congress. I am not qualified to judge whether it is a good film as I knew too many of the people portrayed.

I enjoyed it and I know some non-players did as well.
Pity you never got involved as a consulter that would have removed
some of the basic errors. (Bobby opening 1.h4 h5 from a Russian mag)
and yet there must have been some research in the background because
the scene where Bobby shows Lombardy how he could have won v Petrosian
is spot on regarding date, position and the analysis is good.
Petrosian - Lombardy, Zurich 1961

It is like pulling teeth to find the release dates in the small arthouse-type cinemas that are showing this film.
Quite a few showings in Cardiff in the first week of September, in the 'Chapter' multi-artform cultural space:

I saw it yesterday.
It is embarrassingly poor, though I quite liked Peter Sarsgaard's performance as Lombardy. Everything else is cliché at best.

"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Thanks I started watching it on Amazon but turned it off in the middle somewhere.

Did anyone else notice that the scene where Fischer storms out because of Russian collusion (agreeing draws between themselves) was set at the Olympiad? I know there were other glaring inaccuracies, but for some reason that was the one that was the most jarring to me.
I liked Lombardy too, but thought a lot of the rest was nonsense.
