Brian, are you riddling, ribbing, or ridiculing me?

Maybe a combination of all three?

I'm no match for Simon Maimonides (nor Stylites).

Otherwise I'd be an august arbiter (or a professional player).

I admit that I am often verbally out on a limb, hoping it doesn't break under the weight of words.

John McKenna >Otherwise I'd be an august arbiter<
Surely May would currently be more appropriate and the word is often used in the Laws.

Hi Stewart, thanks for quoting me.

If I were an arbiter now I'd be the 'May not...' arbiter. I'd give every player on the road two licenses - one (ECF-graded) national and the other (FIDE-rated) international. When a player infringed the rules and an arbiter became involved I'd have a penalty points system and send national event offenders on local one-day reeducation courses. Send international offenders to stand outside FIDE's offices in Athens all weekend and ban habitual offenders from playing until they'd spent a whole week in Elista sweeping the streets around FIDE HQ.

They who transgress must be taught a lesson - not just be given a talking-to and a tap on the wrist.

John, I'm genuinely shocked!

Nor the august Robert Zimmerman, it would seem.

How could you not recognize the opening lines to Dylan's haunting and iconic "Joey"?
(Does Joey recognize those lines?)

PS I've heard of Moses Maimonides (2nd greatest Jewish philosopher behind Baruch Spinoza) but not Simon. Who was he?
Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.

Thanks Brian, as you can see there are big gaps in my memory (chess is probably reponsible for squeezing a lot of more valuable stuff out).

However, I must admit that I never listened to the complete Dylan repertoire for some reason so "Joey" escaped me.

I created "Simon" Maimonides to match Simon Stylites on the spur of the moment off the top of my rocker. I need lessons from Bojo in Classics (pop & lit.)

I am sorry that I failed to come up to standard and your expectations, but to err is human...

Reason: The Utd game isn't very good but is distracting me a bit.
