What do I do?

Post by soheil_hooshdaran » Sun May 15, 2016 6:13 pm

Hi.
There is a class on KID in Tehran, some 900 km from here, by the national team coach.
I don't know if I should attend it considering I have a books I've not yet read.
What would you do if you were me?

Should I eat this biscuit?
Is bird watching a sport?
Should I tell someone they have brown hair?
Do you think television is fun?
Carl, can't you put a stop to this?

Marry and you will be relieved of the tyranny of choice (to say nothing of a multitude of other things).
Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.

Ray, please be advised that if Carl could've he would've. Soheil has special dispensation equivalent to a "00" (as in 007) license...

Soheil, you are awful, but we do like you...

Brian's advice is good advice... but if you don't also start a family you will never really understand what it is to be a responsible person...

Look at how I have turned out - barren, and bitter and twisted and totally irresponsible...

Before it's too late, take the plunge...

SKYFALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL...

(Andrew, do you mean a marriage-license fee, perchance?)

I'm just concerned you might decide not to pay it if you don't like the first hour of it...

So that's an 1800km round trip to learn more about an opening you have unread books on? That's madness. If you want to improve with the KID, play it as much as you can with friends, read and re-read your books and study classical games on top, not Kasparov's as his game are too sharp but Avebakh knew that opening well. Progress begins at home and in the heart, study your own games and don't worry about lectures, they won't help much. Alternatively find a titled player close to where you live and pay him to train you in it.

You should go, it's an adventure you'll enjoy while you are keen on chess and you'll make some contacts from all over your country.

Bit far for me, but I’d like to go  no matter how many vids on the KID I watch, the black army under my control in that opening, always ends up looking like a draughts board before play has started

Go for it Sohil, sounds interesting!

I'd purchase a drone and fly yourself to the venue.

Matt, the admirable Crichton no longer cares about "good taste".

He now prefers to leave a bad taste in the mouth.

Having said that, Soheil is making rods for his own back, so must be prepared to take the odd whack or two, three, four...

Admittedly it's more subtle.
