Angela Eagle games

Anybody got any? From old scorebooks, magazines or what you will? Anybody remember playing her?

(Would be grateful if this thread did not divert into discussion of the internal politics of the Labour Party: I'm basically interested in her chess, here.)

I'm puzzled, I have scorebooks from 1984 (when I started playing again at University) until 1994, including rapidplay tournaments, and scoresheets for all games since - I even remember the colour of the scorebook I used before then, but I can't find it - guess it must have been late 70s when I played one of them at Blackpool, pity, I did lose that's all I remember now

Growing up, the Eagle parents were determined to give their daughters the education their class had denied them. "While Dad was working shifts he taught himself to play chess," Angela says. "Then he taught us when we were eight."

"And we beat him immediately," Maria says. "So he took us down to Formby Chess Club." Both went on to play for England but who would usually win between the sisters? "Angela," Maria says. "She was British Girls' Champion. I always had a careless streak. When I would need to focus, I'd lose concentration. Also, I could never feel threatened by Angela the way I would another opponent. I didn't feel like she'd want to beat me."

Angela Eagle was only fifteen when she became joint British Girls under 18 Champion with Jane Garwell in 1976.

Further games still welcomed, but having come across this today, I wondered: Is Angela Eagle "Labour's best-ever chess player"?

Firstly, was her highest-ever grade better than that of her sister, or of Rachel Reeves?

Secondly, has any other Labour MP, current or otherwise, been higher-graded?

Would appreciate any information on the subject.

Rachel Reeves is reported here as having had a grade of 128, though whether that's accurate and whether that would represent her best, I don't know.

I've previously posted Reeves - Fletcher from Basingstoke U14, 1993.

She was a decent junior player (one of the stronger female players in my age group) - 130 sounds about right.
