There's got to be a transmission error somewhere in that game. What is 30 ...Rbf7 all about?

I wondered about that too, for sure. But the game seems to follow thereafter. Still, all rather hard to believe

Not convinced the result shown in cannon-cox is correct. Could be wrong.

If you replace 30...Rfb7 with 30...Rxg7 and delete both players 31st moves the remainder of the game looks plausible, i.e.

A player who knows in advance that he will not be able to make it before the default time can, in these days of mobile comms, inform the organisers and allow them the chance to conjure up a new pairing before the round begins, perhaps.
The "no phones" stance seems to be weakening a bit with the arbiters at Olympia having no objection to switched off phones being present at the tables. If you leave your phone at home, you aren't able to communicate with the organisers.

Events like the British Championship with one afternoon round a day and a notional five hour session could cope with games starting an hour late and still enable arbiters to get their evening meals in. So why not allow repairing subject to the same time limit being applied?

Which regulation forbidding this are you referring to?

Four Barbican players on the top six boards!

All right, they might not be the favourites at the bookmakers .... but COYB all the same!

Five on the top seven gives better odds on a Barbican sweep.

I just realise that I meant four Barbican players on the top six listed above ... I suppose there are 90 players or more on 1/1!

That's due to me not listing all the live boards or better still only those with Barbicanians on. Let's hope it's a good day for them.

Mmm, just a half point from the above games (it's a bit like a real Barbican 2 match against one of the really big teams!). Brian Tarhon made his draw with Matthieu Cornette from a position of strength, though.
