Apparently English Champion Keith Arkell has also resigned.
However considering we're on the same move that apparently also caused his opponent to resign I think we should take this with a pinch of salt.
Especially when we consider the position (after 21. Rc1), not that I claim to be an expert.

Thomas Rendle won in 4 moves today. I wonder if that was the Vodafone gambit in action.

Ok, I give in and agree - boards 6-10 are clearly a bit of a messIan Lamb wrote:its offical conquest lost but no news on arkell as yet

The Internet Attack is also under suspicion.Jaimie Wilson wrote:Thomas Rendle won in 4 moves today. I wonder if that was the Vodafone gambit in action.
I'm quite surprised Charlie Storey lost as he's apparently graded 3379.
Still, if it's a bit of a mess, better have a mess in the first round than the last.

No Alex it takes a while to download and analyze a log file of that size, so I will do it in the morning before i go to work!Alex Holowczak wrote:Do you know how many have tuned in to today's games yet?Carl Hibbard wrote:I am at home now watching the Apache log file grow past the 200 megabyte size, oh well at least its busy
Around 2,300 visitors would be considered a "good" figure but the number could be anything to be honest

The full game is up on the championship site now ... looks like Keith got trapped in a mating net.Sebastian Stone wrote:Apparently English Champion Keith Arkell has also resigned.

Really? After 40...Kxg4 41. Nh6+ Kg5 I don't know what white can do.Jonathan Bryant wrote:The full game is up on the championship site now ... looks like Keith got trapped in a mating net.Sebastian Stone wrote:Apparently English Champion Keith Arkell has also resigned.

Maybe 41...Kxf4 is better.
