What's the standard size for a chess table and its respected chairs and the lighting of the venue?

You may find FIDE's guidelines helpful, if somewhat higher than the minimum standards in practice.soheil_hooshdaran wrote:What's the standard size for a chess table and its respected chairs and the lighting of the venue?

Re: What do I do?
I looked at it but unsure why 110 cm's is necessary for 1 board or for 2 sets. My board's sides are about 47 cm's.
I am trying to find the handbook of Mr. Reuben for organizers, but I was unseccessful. Can anyone help me?

47 cm is a standard board size. FIDE recommend 5 to 6 cm per square and there are 8 of themsoheil_hooshdaran wrote:I looked at it but unsure why 110 cm's is necessary for 1 board or for 2 sets. My board's sides are about 47 cm's.
110 cm for the table gives 30 cm either side. That's space for the clock, the scoresheets, water bottles, cups etc. That's generous and in practice tournament and match rooms are laid out with smaller spacings.

... with the frequent result that's there's insufficient space between the boards. Not everyone is left-handed so organisers need to allow for the possibility that a right-handed person is sitting next to a left-handed person and that there is sufficient room for them both to put their scoresheets between their two boards, with enough space between the scoresheets that they can both write moves down at the same time.Roger de Coverly wrote:47 cm is a standard board size. Chess scoresheets are typically A5 size, so that's half of each player's 30 cm used up straight away, before you''ve made any allowance for the scoresheet not being right next to the board and some space for your hand and arm on the other side of the scoresheet when you're writing down moves.

I migtht have to order the tables to be built from wood. What would be the exact sizes of the tables? both one-board and two-board. I might also like the voards to be cut on the tables

You're quite wrong about that.soheil_hooshdaran wrote:Very few books discuss types of center, why?
Most books aimed at improving beginners discuss closed, semi-open and open centers and the openings which lead to them. They will usually go on to recommend openings that lead to open centers because the resulting piece play is easier and more fun.
Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.
