Did both of you miss that after 14. .. Rxc3 15. bxc3, the Knight on c2 is trapped? An engine scores it as a "game over" +3.0 to Black.Alan Llewellyn wrote:matt as you can see my 14th move is a typical 'rabbit caught in headlights' type of move i've made famous.
14 Bf1 has been played before, 14. .. Qb6 check was the usual choice previously.

Move 63: "Heading for ...." Philidor. Lucena is the 'building a bridge" one that wins.
I must admit I quite enjoy getting theoretical endings on the board during actual play. Last February in Bristol I got a Lucena for the first time in 30 years of chessing.
