Pairing software

Post by soheil_hooshdaran » Wed Jan 17, 2018 11:33 am

Hi.
This Friday, I tried to pair 20 players using Swiss Manager, but it excluded 3 of b them and so the arbiter was forced to do it via paper. What should I use for the following Friday?
Thanks

That's odd. Why did it exclude three of them?

That was strange to me. Our female coach and Fide arbiter had assured me that Swiss Manager works for 5 rounds w/o needing a code, wile some other IA told me it works only for 4 rounds.
We had 20 players.

Whether or not you had a code is irrelevant. Absence of the code does not make the program make random errors. The error in this case is almost certainly, actually scrub the "almost", a case of operator error. You pressed not one wrong button but several. The most likely explanation is that you marked 2 or 3 of the players as excluded for that round.

The intelligent thing to do before using a piece of software which has been flagged many times in this forum as difficult with an often counter-intuitive user interface, is to practice all the aspects that you are going to want to use for a real tournament. You obviously didn't do that.
Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.

Swiss-Manager only works for 3 rounds without a code.
