Hi.
Today, I held another veterans tournamment in my club, as I do on Fridays (which are weekends).
I use swiss manager for pairing. It's been the second time in a row that I remove the player from an ongoing tournament (pairing->remove)and someone else is "withdrawn temporarily" from the tournament along the way.
I am posting since I found nothing pertinent on the internet.
It's a bit embarrassing and harming my business.
What's the reason and how show I remove him/her from the tournament?

I thought the usual approach was just to show them as a 0 point bye for the unplayed rounds. That's what chess-results does.

Pairing -> Remove isn't an option on my copy of Swiss-Manager, so I don't really know what you've done.

But what to do if a player wants no to play in the next round(s), or you mistakenly added him or her after round 1?

What should happen is that they tell you in advance that they want to withdraw from a round before you do the pairings. So you just go to Pairings -> Exclude Player, and exclude the player from the rounds that the player wants to be excluded from.

If you've already paired the round, then if it is FIDE-rated, you cannot change the pairing unilaterally. So the other player just wins by default. If you and the players decide you just want to re-pair two players who have won by default to give them a game, then go to Pairings -> Set New Player, and you can manually adjust the pairings for the round in question.

I understand the Iranian Federation runs wide-ranging arbiter training courses, which cover topics in addition to those formally required by FIDE. One of them is the use of Swiss-Manager. Why not contact your Federation and try to go on one?

The thing is, I am not getting paid to hold these tournaments in my club, entry is free.
Also, my disability prevents me from being an arbiter

I don't see why either of those points should matter in principle.

Perhaps you can speak with your Federation from doing the Swiss-Manager part of the course only?

Why strong players are not necessarily good trainers?

What makes a tournament big?

What's a bug tourament? at all?

I don`t know. I only play in Chess tournaments. If the question is meant to be " What`s a big tournament ? " I suppose the answer is one where there is a lot of players, as big means a large amount.

What headcount of players do you think could be attracted to enter?

The more the better.
I might lease another place in case of a big turnnout. I just want to see what makes a tournament big.

It's how you want to define it. From a practical point of view, if you are running the tournament on your own, then a "big" tournament is when it becomes too large for one person and their computer to handle and you need to recruit a team to assist you.

A weekend tournament in the UK is likely to have between 20 and 60 players in each 5 round section with between 3 and 6 sections, each with an arbiter or controller running them. So that's somewhere between 60 and 360 people.
