Yeah He is Kings Head(4ncl) best player. However Simon strikes me as a theory person and therefore there the ones who beat me automatically.

I've finally got in to the Drunken Knights first team, which I am happy about.

Keith,

I was the one drinking with Peter Ackley and Jack Rudd after their game. [I'm sure Peter really should have won that one. My theory, for what it's worth, is Ne7 dis. ch. rather than Nh4 dis. ch. Will have to study it later...] I overheard you sharing opinions on 2000 / 2100 players with Bogdan Lalic; "in-between" players as Bogdan described them, young, optimistic, tricky and hard work as you described them! Would look forward to having a chat with you some time, too, or indeed to being ground down by you! Good luck with the tournament (except against PA - he's a mate.)

Regards,
Paul.

Jack Rudd needs 2/3 to avoid dropping below 2300. Ouch.

Good luck with that Jack - anyway if it happens, it won't be for long.

Well done, Pete. Whose rating, incidentally, has now overtaken mine - he'll probably be board two for Bristol next season.

For what it is worth, I don't think the FM title is worth anything. I achieved it about 30 years ago, never paid the BCF/ECF a penny and I am listed as one. I know I'm not 2300+ any more.

It's worth quite a lot in tournament invitations - organizers of all-play-alls are crying out for more FMs to take part in their events.
