I note that Jonah Willow (Nottinghamshire) is now the highest graded U16 & U17 in the current grading list at 217. His recent wins at both Llandudno & Telford should mean that his FIDE rating will exceed 2300 and entitle him to the FIDE master title.

Yes, that's correct. He's already made contact with the ECF ahead of the August list that should see him published at 2303.

Really? His 217 is higher than Borna Derakshani's 233?
Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.

Under 16 ENG Jonah is the highest. Borna appears in the Under 16 FIDE and Under 17.

My post says "I note"...... I didn't suggest that the local junior was destined to be the next Adams; this thread has drawn attention to a number of juniors who have the ability to proceed further to master status as I'm sure Jonah Willow and Sheyras Royal will. As for the inclusion of Derakshani's 233 grade, that has been conveniently amended today in the U17 category since I made the post, presumably by a Grading Administrator, and you have then taken the opportunity for a rather cheap IMHO comment as above. Whilst I am sure the ECF welcome such a strong player who was banned in his own country, "Iran" is hardly a well known English club.

I don't understand what you are trying to say there.

Looking at their respective FIDE profiles they were both born in 2002.

By the way, Borna is I believe looking for a 4NCL club to play for next season. He is at school in Canterbury. If you are looking for a strong junior (2300+) could be worth talking to him.

I'm saying what the grading database told me. The ECF grading year is the school year and Under 16 Jonah is the top player. If you change it to FIDE then Borna appears as top under 16.

Regarding 4NCL, I messaged him on the 27th May but received no reply. Rightly or wrongly I took that to mean he may have already made other plans.

If you want to go very young, I would suggest Patrick Damodaran, started playing tournaments at the age of four, now a veteran aged five has given up on the Richmond Rapidplays Under 80 section as being too easy and now plays in the Under 120 section.
Patrick Damodaran's grade has shot up from his initial grade of 38 at the age of four to 77 at the age of barely turned five. His best results are all loaded at the end of the season. I predict he will be over 100 in January's list, still aged five.
