Creating a Position Diagram without Kings ?

Post by John Upham » Sat Aug 18, 2018 11:44 am

Is anyone aware of chess software that will allow one to create a position diagram without kings?

I want to create some training positions that do not use kings such as

White bishop on b1
black pawns on a7, b7 and c7

with white to move how does white stop all of black's pawns promoting?

for example :D

Winboard 4.2.3 a free download is a small program that sits on your desk top
so need to be on the net. It allows every illegal position you can think off

Some forums (this one for example) do not allow a position without Kings but do allow illegal positions. (with Kings)

One wee annoying feature about winboard is every time you fire it up it will ask you what engine you want to use.

add this line to the winboard.ini.

/ncp

and save it. It will stop asking.
