You need to do more homework, Christopher!

McShane isn't through yet. He's only +8  If Adams wins all the blitz, it'll go to Armageddon. Meanwhile, Jones is +2. No, I don't understand either

Classical wins are worth 6, Rapid wins worth 4, blitz wins worth 2. 2 Classic, 2 Rapid & 4 Blitz.

McShane was about to win, but has now lost.

I think he has one more chance to avoid Adams forcing a playoff.
No, he has two more chances. I'm not counting properly.

Bit cruel that the players are made to finish the matches. Howell was already out when he was defending BvR and allowed a mate. I suppose they are just providing entertainment at that point. No, wait, I still can't count. A draw would have seen him go dormie four down. The loss (blunder) knocked him out.

Very interesting to see that Gawain first thought it worth playing out KR v KB and then won it. I think that many arbiters would have given the draw under the Guideline III "no legitimate winning chances" rule, but if it can be lost in a game between two world class players with an increment that needs a rethink.

Of course the real message is that guillotine finishes should be scrapped, but everybody knows that.

Well, McShane is losing again. If Adams manages to win all four blitz games, then the playoff, and the title (against Jones), he will deserve it. Now McShane really does have one final chance to knock Adams out.

Whilst most R v B (and indeed R v N) endings are drawn, a sufficiently large minority are not to make playing on for a while perfectly legitimate IMO. Its not as if we are talking about K/R v K/R or something similar that is blatantly trivial.

Meanwhile, in another place, for another thread (sigh), MVL has trounced Aronian to go through; while Nakamura just needs a half to dump Caruana (I think!)

Down to +2 now with one blitz game left.

Fabi knocked out. Which keeps Carlsen's number one ranking intact for now. (yeah, I know, wrong thread.)

There is 3rd/4th in both events I believe so 2 more Classical games still for everyone. 2/2 would take Fabi to #1.
