ECF Charity Marathon for Ukraine 2024

"Chess.com will host the online marathon from 5.00pm on Saturday 1st June to 5.00pm on Sunday 2nd June UK time (BST). It was an interesting event. 1st David Haydon 765 (managing 240 games), 2nd Keith Arkell 650 (241 games!), 3rd Jude Shearsby 455. 371 played. It was quite hard work. I'm too old for blitz, especially without increment. I managed a win against each of the top two, improving my score against Keith to 1-21. Blitz is like football, it's a great leveller. After celebrating a win against a 2657, a couple of games later I lost to a 1181.

On Sunday morning, after losing to two 2500s, I thought, "Where are all the weak players? Wait a minute - this ones 2800! Oh, it's Mickey Adams..."
Luckily, I enjoy a challenge (although I doubt he thought it was a challenge).
