I can agree with this to a limited extent - as Phil acknowledged after the meeting when he spoke to me his presentation was not as good as Sabrina's and if I had judged them yesterday, I would have voted for SabrinaPaul Cooksey wrote:I saw a lot of nodding, the rest is speculation. The ECF had two vacancies, and two candidates that impressed me. Unfortunately they both applied for the same vacancy.David Robertson wrote:Have Council members no pride, no sense of history, no belief in the merits of chess over chessboxing? In my opinion, any association with chessboxing creates grounds for a lifetime ban on further association with chess
As I explained in advance to Sabrina (for the avoidance of doubt, not by email, and not abusive), the MCF view was that Phil was the better of 2 good candidates
I think if Sabrina had stood yesterday for Marketing Director, she would have won and would be a very welcome presence on the board (not because she is young or female, that would be an added benefit) - of the 3 candidates who spoke, she marketed herself the best IMO
I imagine that some Council members thought that a vacancy was undesirable and voted for Tim, others did so because he was nominated by Andrew Farthing (even though Andrew expressed no support for Tim) and others because he was nominated by Stewart Reuben
Do we not have any chess players experienced in PR or Marketing who we could get to stand next year?
