Seriously though, I've been away for a bit and missed the fact that we are not to have a women's team. Can anyone point me to some facts and the discussion on the forum?

The chairman of the meeting clearly did not want another card vote so early on in the meeting: had this item been taken at a later stage the meeting, I suspect that there might well have been one. A card vote also takes place if 20 members present in person or by proxy demand one: there was not sufficient demand to trigger this.I would like to echo Angus' question above about why exactly there was no card vote on the SCCU's proposal when the initial vote was so close?

There were some a couple areas that concerned particular Council members: the hosting of the grading database, and an argument involving an ECF Director that took place in the control room during the British Championships. Why?[was there quite a lot of discussion on the Home Director's report

Thanks to Neil and David. I wonder if all the people who donated money for the championships were consulted before the International Director effectively ensured that the women's team would withdraw?

There was an immensely vague rumour, which may have conflated itself with the story of the Director who didn't walk out. Perhaps something like X had a row with Y over the issue Z, without it ever being posted as to who X and Y were and what Z was about.

Thanks to John Philpott for clarifying the niceties of voting at the AGM. One does begin to wonder if might even be possible to gauge whether or not to hold a card vote based on whose hands were up or down!?
Also, thanks to Justin for correcting my mistake that it was Angus' question regarding the voting when it was David Shepherd who actually asked.

I remember watching it live. There was a position where Adams could have played for a win which would have left him in a very strong position in the overall match. In practice he played a line which settled for a draw.JustinHadi wrote:Adams - Kasimdzhanov. Could have led to a bona fide world title shot (and associated publicity)

Only just past 3.05 and we are through Officers' reports and have passed a vote of thanks to the outgoing Officers. Hopefully there will be a tea break before the elections.
