I bought quite a few. Naturally the appeal of the Be2 Sicilian tape was the promise of winning a piece after 1 e4 c5, 2 Nf3 d6, 3 Be2 Nf6, 4 c3 Nxe4.
I did get a couple of wins that way. If they didn’t fall for it, though, I tended to do rather badly.
It’s funny that I can remember details of quite a few of these tapes, and yet ask me about a game I played yesterday and I’d be at a loss to tell you anything at all.
RDK’s d4 c4 Repertoire for White, btw, is one of the best things he’s every written. Much better than his d4 repertoire book. The tape was essentially his repertoire at the time and I reckon you could still use it as the basis of a repertoire even now. Probably you’d only really be risking anything when playing the Grunfeld or Semi-Slav, but other than that you could just use these 2 tapes.
Thanks for the schedule info John. A draw perhaps for Justin, perhaps. It does get a bit dull if White avoids the Berlin Wall.
