I would like to set this group up on the back of the new formed junior organisers and coaches group called EJOG. We have a Facebook and twitter page and a website being set up. The forum will be an extra focus point to discuss relevant issues around junior organising and junior coaching

Were you intending to set up your own independent forum, or asking for a dedicated topic area to be added here in parallel to ECF Matters and Junior Chess ? If the latter, you would have to get the agreement of the site owner, Carl Hibbard.

There used to be one. It's archived on this forum.

It was cancelled to save money when the ECF lost its government funding of around £ 50,000 a year back in 2010.

If you are interested in establishing a junior magazine, I suggest a creative route to getting it off the ground is to get a junior to do all the work for you. This would be a perfect project for an 'artefact' EPQ

I am happy to open a new topic if people consider it worthwhile.

Yes, why not? Although, I only get involved sporadically, plenty of others do rather more!

Carl wouldn't be able to set up a dedicated forum for junior coaches and organisers (who up to a point are catered for by the junior chess section anyway). He would be able to set up a separate section as he has for the MCCU and YCA but non junior organisers would be able to stick their oar in should they wish.

The software might allow a dedicated subgroup, or you could always just actively moderate to try and cut down on off topic stuff.

"The software might allow a dedicated subgroup, "

Probably - the Countdown forum had a secret sub-group, password protected, where the organizer and his cronies had discussions (many of which used 4-letter words) and the rest of us didn't know what was going on! More work of course, but Carl could have a section that everyone could see, but possibly only allow registered people to comment. But then he has to decide who to allow in, so that could be a bit of a pain for him.

Agreed. I was talking about hat was possible, not necessarily desirable!
