Relaxing the 2 metre rule would be very risky. Unless everyone was forced to wear gloves, masks and visors.
The other places in the UK that might return to normal are some of the other extremities like Lundy,Sark, Orkney and Shetland.
Possibly down the line the Isle of Wight like in The Day of the Triffids.
Possibly Portmeirion ?

The same may apply in the near future to the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey for their residents, if not visitors.
This is now happening in the Isle of Man and in Guernsey.

"Possibly Portmeirion ?"

That would be a great venue for a chess event, although equating Portmeirion with normality is a bit of a stretch.

Would participants in this Portmeirion chess congress dream of being chased through the streets by large bouncing balls looking like the Covid19 virus?

If I were running it, I'm sure I could get Rover to make an appearance!

The pairing numbers would start with 2, obviously.

But player number 2 would be different every round.

Good point, but I imagine you could charge entrants an extra fee to be number 6...

I think we may have drifted a bit from the point of the thread, but I've seen worse examples.

Book the Hotel 6 Years in advance. Small tournament.

My number 6 t shirt worn at chess over 100 times. I expect that is an ECF record.

As number 2 came up I was thinking Austin Powers. Nice to drift...

Thanks for all those posts gentlemen. It's made me chuckle.
I've never visited Portmeirion. If I win the lottery, I'll will take you all there for a few chess games and Welsh Beer.

well i have Email my other Silver rep and also message part of the bronze member to put a amend to the meeting and will be putting it into the forum when the silver members get it as well

We all need to all remember that the ECF are there to support us and we don't want to be like the Bridge union and also like the BDO darts

The other places in the UK... like ...Sark ....
Has Sark declared UDI from the Bailiwick of Guernsey?

Perhaps it should, temporarily, because there's safety in fewer numbers now.

"Has Sark declared UDI from the Bailiwick of Guernsey?"

No - but they did isolate themselves from Guernsey quickly. The Barclay brothers have been trying to take over Sark, but the Guernsey Courts won't let them.
