Great to have the new monthly list out, with 3 events in April: https://www.ecfrating.org.uk/v2/new/list_events.php

Joe's events look to be missing.

edit: trying to understand how the new system/site works: in this event, I can't get my head around the crosstable: https://www.ecfrating.org.uk/v2/new/lis ... ction_no=1

This says that in R1, #1 won against #4, but #4 won against #2 and #2 won against #1? R1 has 4 wins and 1 defeat? How is that possible?

Wadih,
I think there aren't set round times so in their first game player 1 might play player 2, but in player 3's first game they might also play player 2
That makes the crosstable hyper-ventilate, but I think all the results are there somewhere.

Still wouldn't make sense to me, as total results submitted show 7 wins and 4 defeats?
Also, I can see in #1's results that he played #4, but in #4's results there is no #1 game result.
Something appears to be missing?

If you click on player 4 then it gives his result against player 1
The crosstable doesn't show all the results submitted. I think the crosstable should be a partial all-play-all, but it shows as a Swiss and that doesn't work.

With the LMS system, there are 4 permissible ways of categorising individual events - Swiss, APA, KO or unstructured. This event didn't clearly fall into any of those categories - Matthew rightly described it as a "partial all-play-all" - so I chose the last option, "unstructured". This doesn't obviously work too well when, as here, players take part in more than one game in any one "round". The system clearly takes all the games into account - as evidenced by the first player who is shown [correctly] with a score of 3 [+3 =0 -2] over the two days - but it identifies only one opponent on each day. Maybe the better solution would have been to choose the APA option but with an incomplete set of games.

Roger,
I think the rating database has problems presenting your tournament because you had multiple games by the same player in each round at https://ecflms.org.uk/lms/node/66881 At least, I hope that is the cause. I am using the same 'unstructured' setting but using lots of rounds https://ecflms.org.uk/lms/node/67451/rounds I will have to wait for the 1 June update to see if has worked!

Neill - Yes, it's merely [if that's the right word!] a presentation issue in that, when I interrogate each player's file to see how many - and which - games were processed by the system, it shows the correct results, eg. in the case I instanced, three wins and two losses. As far as I can see, your solution - unstructured but multiple rounds - should work although it occurs to me that it might be easier to input everything as a partial APA.

I might have some multiple games (e.g AvB then BvA), so for me unstructured is best as that is indeed what it is!

I will get someone to look into this.

We are planning a big update in the near future which is top priority, so it might take a while to come up with something.

Neill doesn't have to wait till JUne to look at his input, things are updated every night.

The LMS only sends to the rating system once per month at the moment.

Which would be why our games on 28 and 29 April are not yet on the rating list.

Can confirm this - our games on 29 March were also held over for a month. Malcolm later advised me that the LMS submits to the rating system on the morning of the 28th of the month. That's fair enough although it needs to become general knowledge to avoid unnecessary queries to the ECF office.

Incidentally, I wouldn't want it thought that my comments are intended as criticism of how the new rating system operates. To be able to play games on 26 April and have them ECF-rated in the first few hours of May is something of which, not so long ago, we could only have dreamed. In my opinion, the ECF board deserves some credit for initiating this and those who have actually spent time working on the project deserve our grateful thanks.
