So that informal voting can start.

This assumes that there isn't a third candidate (or indeed fourth, fifth or sixth) that we don't know about yet. And None Of The Above is always on the ballot paper.

What about "None of the above"?

Whoops I allowed people to amend their vote but adding options resets the count sorry.

I am surprised that anyone went with the none option.

I'm sure that those who voted for "None of the Above" have a much more suitable candidate in mind than either Mike or Malcolm.

Perhaps they would care to reveal their choice to us all?

Unless, of course they don't want a CEO at all.

Just to point out that a vote for 'None of the above' is a vote for a Board with no CEO but with Malcolm Pein retaining his position as Director of International chess.

How long has the position of CEO even existed?

I think it was created round about 2000 still in the days of the BCF, the SCCU archived website would have more details. Prior to that, either the President or the General Secretary were thought of as the man or woman in charge. Various subsequent Presidents have also acted as though they were in charge.

For 20 years; it was introduced into the British Chess Federation - the first CEO being elected at the Council meeting of September 2001.

The inaugural CEO was titled as

Chief Executive & Director of Women's Chess

and was

Susan Richards of Whitstable, Kent.

Sorry John that isn't correct. The first Chief Executive was Chris Majer elected at the meeting I've mentioned above in September 2001. Following this at the Management Board meeting of November 2001, Chris advised that a change in his employment made it difficult for him to continue and he was replaced by Susan Richards.

Neil,

I merely used BCF Yearbooks as a first approximation and paid the penalty for not digging deeper.

Thanks for the correction.

'What about "None of the above"?'

You do not see so it so much these days but there used to be a regular 'Don't Know' option with polls.

I often wondered about the 'Don't Knows, ' how long did they ponder over the question before deciding they did not know
and were they laying awake that night worrying and still trying to figure out if whether or not they knew.

I suspect "Don't care" would be a clear winner amongst the ECF membership, even if not on this forum.
