I reached out immediately to change my forum vote but then realised I pressed the right button all along.

If Chris is so well connected with Prime Ministers etc, and yet chess is not recognised as a sport in the UK, how are the rest of us expected to manage it?

Which two isn't disclosed.

Wilson and Callaghan?
Thatcher and Major?
Blair and Brown?
Cameron and May?

Presumably he's too busy with CSC to moonlight with Johnson.

Will BCN be doing a fact check on this document?

Will John Reyes be given the opportunity to respond to the claim that he is running an "on-going smear campaign" against Chris Fegan?

I was surprised not to see Spencer Perceval's name.

There did seem to be claims of governance experience that had not previously been disclosed, not least in the election address, which devoted half its space to achievements as Director of Womens Chess. There's also elements in Chris's CV of which the forum has been aware or can be found with a Google search that aren't mentioned.

Fact checking : I'll leave that to your good self who, I'm confident is much better placed and forensically skilled to conduct the task.

Yes, indeed. Mike, Robert and John have all been given the opportunity to put their case.

JR has done this on https://www.facebook.com/groups/britishchess

Mike has politely declined letting me know that he feels he only needs to engage with ECF Council Members.

RS has replied has follows: "Thanks for the offer but my statement is already on the ECF website and that’s good enough for me."

Perhaps you could provide a link. I can find nothing more recent than 30 September, when John published his report to ECF Silver members. That was the day before you published Chris Fegan's accusations.

JR has replied using the comment mechanism to the article from MBP. Has has yet to reply to the second article from CF. There is no barrier to JR replying whatsoever. I'll leave it yourself to encourage him further.

Is Chris claiming to be the leader of (multiple) major local UK authorities? I presume not but I can't see how else you can read that sentence.

This was my comment to Malcolm

Just to let you all know that I did not said this but Mick Norris did and he has put it on the ecf forum that it was him who mention this and not me

“Malcolm wants to transfer circa £200K into the ECF from the BCF/PIF according to his Election Address, how much of that would be needlessly lost to tax?”

Obviously I have considered this. I will shortly publish a road map of how these assets can be deployed to the benefit of the ECF while minimising any tax liability. We are fortunate to have an ECF NED who is a tax lawyer and I have been consulting him on this matter.
Silver Members really deserve better representation.”

As I told the forum it was not me who quoted this and maybe Malcolm should have got his facts right (I yet to have a apology yet from him about this)

With chris

I will leave it till the AGM to make my comment to chris

With the market value of the assets in the BCF's PIF exceeding the book cost, any sale or transfer of the assets is likely to trigger a Corporation Tax cost on the gain. There is a known method of avoiding these tax charges which is to transfer the assets to a charity and the ECF set one up (The Chess Trust) for this and other purposes. This has already been partly done as evidenced by the BCF Accounts. The problem is that whilst the ECF can influence the charity as witnessed by the presence of the ECF's CEO and Finance Director on its Board, it cannot control the charity as it would fail one of the tests needed to be a charity.

The reputation of having funds created by legacies in a charity may have been soured by experience with the John Robinson Trust. I believe that John originally left a substantial part of his estate to the BCF with some general instructions as to how it should be used. It was the BCF/ECF who had the assets put into a charitable trust. This had the advantage of a saving on Inheritance Tax. Problems have arisen in the years since the JRT was set up where the ECF has sometimes felt the JRT Trustees not supportive when the ECF asked for money.
