Most of the meetinf so far has been Chris F (backed at certain points by Tim W and Rob W)
One of those three is perhaps a less controversial figure than the other two and might have made a more popular challenger than Malcolm. As it is, director conflicts look likely to continue.

Nobody is voting for CF so Malcolm will need to sneak him in somewhere maybe at development.

"I recall in the early days of this place being harangued (at a Sunningdale 4NCL weekend) by David Welch who was not keen (to say the least) on ECF matters being discussed openly."

Cynics might suggest that there might be good reasons for that.

Meanwhile, Tim Wall is busy maligning Michael Farthing on Twitter. During this morning he took time out to sneer at this Forum and to allege that Mike Truran couldn't be trusted to keep his agreement with Malcolm Pein.

Well yes David, and it is going to continue ad nauseum, attacking everyone who stands up to them; that's what bullying is all about

There's a way for Malcolm to stop this, but he's not going to is he?

... and "I plan to vote for ‘None of the Above’ instead of Mike Truran as CEO at today’s @ecfchess AGM". He didn't mention any Silver members wanting this in his post on chess.com, never mind the majority of those expressing an opinion.

Candidates have been giving their election speeches and we are now hearing their answers to questions from the floor. Time is getting on (1645|. I asked a question of all canidates for tghe board: "what single thing would you do to improve relations on the board?" and to the canidates for chair of governance "what single idea do you have to improve relations on the board?"

This forum has been a beacon of light in what has been a very tawdry episode.

A question to ask is whether the views expressed on chess.com and twitter represent the views of

Organisation Votes Representative Proxy
Northern Counties Chess Union 1 Tim Wall
Cleveland 2 William Metcalf Tim Wall
Cumbria 1 Dave Cole Tim Wall
Durham 2 Tim Wall
Bury & Rochdale League 1 Bill O'Rourke Tim Wall
Central Lancashire League 1 Bill O'Rourke Tim Wall
South Tynedale League 1 Dave Cole Tim Wall
Blackpool Chess Conference 2 Bill O'Rourke Tim Wall
Heywood Congress 1 Bill O'Rourke Tim Wall
Northumbria Chess Masters 1 Tim Wall
Northumbria Junior Chess Association 1 Tim Wall
South Lakes Congress 1 Dave Cole Tim Wall
Silver 6 Tim Wall

If they don't, shouldn't there be a disclaimer on the lines of Mick Norris's forum signature?

His home county, Northumberland are represented by Alex McFarlane.

Card vote 1 has now been completed and card vote 2 in progress. Some people in the room are voting via the zoom call and some on pieces of paper. Somehow the tellers (David G and Natasha R) are coping with this.

Well, if you had to choose two tellers I think they'd be a pretty good two to choose... Um, a side thought: I wonder how Natasha R is finding life as a board member?

It would not be right for me to comment on private matters other than I did consult with the local Exec.

I will say, however, that being thick skinned can have advantages at times. :D
