After reading the above, I wondered whether FIDE had already developed a policy but, as far as I can see, it hasn't.
You are correct. I hope we shall do that, but it has at least been noticed, unlike in some other organisations, that allowing male players simply to redefine themselves as female has wider implications.
Very different implications in chess though? In most sports where this is a high profile debate the basic point at stake is whether biological males should be able to switch to female competition given that the latter exists primarily because of biological limitations on ability to compete fairly with men, particularly at the highest level.

I doubt such an argument would get very far in chess. Essentially any opposition would have to get into a detailed analysis behind the motives of anybody attempting to self-identify as female (with the obvious implication that some might do so purely for the greater prize money on offer). But whether that matters, or how on earth you write a policy to address it if it does - good luck anyone given the task of that one!

So, no NBs yet but hopefully that will change shortly.
Any update on this?

I know I've updated my gender on there to say NB. Don't know how many other people have.
Have you? Where would that appear other than https://www.ecfrating.org.uk/v2/new/pla ... de=118310C ?

It turns out that you have changed your information on the membership list, but this is not passed on automatically to the rating list.

You could contact the Director of Membership, Rob Willmoth.

There is an update. This is not entirely simple but has worked its way to the top of the list of tasks and should be completed some time next week.

It now says "Gender: Non-binary"

Many thanks for that :D
