I finally have a venue!!!! So now I have emailed the same people in the League to register us as a new Club! Exciting times!

Having done that a few years back, you need to find premises, set up a club committee (for the bank account) and then source equipment. Chess in Schools are very helpful for start ups and there are still free club accounts out there. Hitting a lot of pubs, cafes and halls can get free venues.

So what is meant by "set up a club committee" then? Is there a formal statement/charter etc. that I need to find a template for?! Thanks!

If you want to open a club bank account then the bank will want to see some evidence, that satisfies them, that you are a bona fide organisation. See this explanation, for example.
