Mancunians are adorable when they think London is inaccessible. London is more accessible for Mancunians than Manchester is for Novocastrians.
it just makes sense.

when did you last go to a ECF meeting?

I get that you have a duty to your constituents to ask for more things to be in The North. Just as I have a duty to tease Mancunians about the fact that their Northern city is 160 miles from Basingstoke and 170 miles from Berwick

But then Berwick is never quite sure whether it's in England or Scotland and has been known in the past to claim to be entirely independent and a peer of both those two nations - as when it joined with them in declaring war on Russia in the Crimea. It periodically makes private peace treaties with Russia that it omitted to do at the end of that war. (at least twice within my lifetime - clearly the place also suffers from amnesia)

I'm trying to think how to amend John's motion so we can punish or reward the ECF ovfficials with the location of the next meeting, since they are the only ones who need to turn up in person. The rest of us will will be joining online anyway.

My thinking is if membership fees frozen, AGM in Richmond or Harrogate, if membership fees increase, AGM in Slough or Wakefield.

Frozen: Ilkley or Crystal Palace; increased: Huddersfield or Aylesbury.

The choice of venue might of course directly affect consequent changes in membership fees as venue costs vary enormously depending on where the venue is. (though in fairness the variations probably works out at about 15p a member)

Michael, there is currently a link on the ECF website (both in a news item and on the Council Papers page) to the AGM's agenda and documents. So far as I can see, the link - http://ecfcouncillive.ndlazi.uk/ - shows neither the agenda nor documents for the meeting. Is it me or is something not as it should be?

I don't see it either. My guess would be that some content is behind a login wall.

Bucks has member clubs in Slough and Aylesbury, though Slough have moved to the elegiac Stoke Poges. But Aylesbury is not so bad. John Hampden, John Wilkes, and Marillion for starters.

It is indeed. I am not sure why.

Delete Marillion, add John Otway

I resign. Well played especially if that was without external assistance. :)

The Agenda is public
The Meeting Records tab brings initially brings up the current version of the Voting Register
At the foot of that page are three selection buttons. Choose the Papers option and the Agenda together with other papers such as the election addresses and more then become available. The Motions tab currently lists the text of motions being presented and after the meetings will also show the results.

At the top right of the page is a button to select other meetings so the page also acts as an archive for past meetings, though at present this archive does not stretch back very far.

There is a login restricted area for representatives and proxies. In that area they can alter their personal details; representatives can appoint their proxies and they or their proxies have the facility for voting during the course of meetings, which now provides automated results.

I've written to Malcolm Pein asking what he intends to do if re-elected. I've specifically asked about the relationship with FIDE going forward given that the ECF campaigned against the re-election of the President. It is a reasonable question whether the ECF should continue to fully support the work of FIDE or adopt a relatively detached or isolationist stance. It occurs to me that 'Ask the Directors' might be disabled during the election period - should I contact Malcolm at CSC instead?
