Firstly -hello

Secondly - a question, I have read the ECF website including constitutions / board papers etc. & I have read a large % of this website, yet can't work out:

what is the difference between a normal ECF member and a Vice-President, that the latter costs so much more than the former?

incidentally - surprised that the word 'membership' is a stop word on the search on here so that it can't be searched on - is there a reason for that?

Thank you Alex, but I think that I must be really rather thick - I had found that page but the only reference to vice president there is that it costs £100 p/a rather than £52 p/a it doesn't seem to say what the difference is over a regular member... what extra is gained for the extra cash?!

Well, ECF members usually get £1 off entry, cheaper perks, and the right to play FIDE-rated chess. The perks are outlined on the website.

As luck should have it, I have a Corporate Vice President form right here, as part of the Congress Information Pack the ECF sent me for the tournament in Oxford.

Benefits include:
2 copies of the ECF newsletter ChessMoves bi-monthly
Copy of Annual Grading List
Copy of Annual Yearbook, usually published in November
Print-out of grading details for seven of your named players
Reduction in entry fees to National Club Championship: Open £4, Major £3, all other events except rapidplay £1
Up to £15 exemption from payment of Game Fee for one team in your club for one event each year
Exemption from payment of Game Fee for the grading of internal club tournaments

Not sure how this differs from a regular Vice President, but the cost is the same, so it seems as good a basis as any.

Try searching for membersh* instead of for membership.

The '*' wildcard character often gets around well-meaning search restrictions and this case is no exception.

Alasdair. The Vice President is making a voluntary contribution to ECF funds and (possibly) likes the idea of being called Vice President.
