The puns using my hilarious surname have not ceased since Junior school and even Corporal Jones has made use of them. :)

Indeed, a recent company pub quiz featured a team called "Four blondes with John Upham" into which I was recruited by our companies secretariat.
Their specialist knowledge was restricted to Hollyoaks, David Beckham and chocolate.

Anyway David, I appreciate the support! :D

The resignation of Martin and the other directors is indeed unfortunate for the ECF. I don't believe it was a correct decision but it seems fairly pointless discussing this now.

As you may recall somewhere in the many threads discussing the current situation, I pointed out that Gerry was elected to the post of President without opposition. Indeed he has faced only one challenge in ten years. I also explained how an immediate vote of no confidence could be considered.

Instead of a constructive debate the forum has degenerated into an orgy of mud-slinging, allegation and counter-allegation and no doubt will continue to do so ad nauseum. In the interim I note that the ECF President has issued a Press Release about the forthcoming ECF Championships in Liverpool. As Gerry Walsh isn't a member of this forum don't expect any response from him on here.

If there is a groundswell of opinion that a new President is needed and a change in the constitution is required there needs to be a great deal more campaigning done and work put in other than derogatory remarks on a public forum. The same could be said about new director appointments as well if we accept that the appointments made by the ECF are purely temporary measures.

It may be a public forum but this is the ECF Forum! I couldn't think of a better place to make any comments. Why shouldn't everyone involved with the ECF be a member?

Hi Greg

Neil is right though. Some people aren't and never will be on here. Every direct member is an ECF share holder but we can't expect them all to be on here. But I do understand the frustation when directors aren't in the forum, but we can't have everything. We'll just have to keep watching the website instead.

What has happened since the ECF story broke is a 16% increase in forum membership and, I presume, a substantial rise in board usage and number of postings. No doubt Carl will be be able to advise on the latter points.
