Information Commission Complaint

Your comments are welcome.
That is an interesting one - is there a way of telling what the complaint actually was?
Cheers

A guess : I suspect this is from persons who may wish to be removed from the online ECF Rating list :?:
I recall a member from Guildford Chess Club claiming that his rating was not accurately calculated and for that reason did not wish it to be published.

So the President isn't even going to be there.

Funny you should think that. I received this reply from FIDE earlier today :

Dear Mr. Upham,

The expenses of the Arbiters are usually covered by the inviting party, i.e.
an Organising body of the respective event where such an arbiter is
appointed by FIDE or invited by the organisers. For official FIDE events all
such provisions for the FIDE principals and officiating arbiters are
stipulated in the respective regulations.

Best regards

I recall the player's objection being "If my grade is that low it can't possibly be right". I don't recall any corrections being needed.

Perhaps the complaint is from the same player as I see that he is back in the ECF online grading list. Has the ECF slipped up by publishing his details without his permission? Or has the player accepted that after 4 consecutive seasons with a published grade of 90-something, and 82 games in total, that 90-something really is an accurate reflection of his standard of play?

I also notice that, unfortunately, the Director of Junior Chess & Education is unable to attend. I hope Andrew has been invited!!

Hi Peter,

The reason Peter Purland and I cannot be there is that we are running an England U12 squad training weekend in Liverpool. It always takes place traditionally at the start of Jan. Just a coincidence that the Board Meeting takes place at the same time.

Greetings from Davenport,Iowa where it has warmed up to 13 F . Thank God I am flying home tonight.

Is anyone going who can "report" the outcome?

The actual minutes will take quite some time to make it onto the ECF web site

You'd feel at home here in Somerset, we are enjoying coldest weather for 12 years but still only -8c in places.

Very sorry that neither yourself or Peter P are able to attend the meeting but fully appreciate the reason. In fact it is worth forum members knowing why you cannot be there. It seems we are now relying on Peter Wilson representing Chess for Schools!! :(

It used to be the case that - with prior notice (for logistical reasons) - any Direct Member could attend to observe.

Just a thought for anyone in the Birmingham area, if that still is the case.

I shall be attending as the SCCU observer.

I shall be writing a report for publication on the SCCU website a day or two after the meeting.

David, people would welcome at least a "key points" review of the meeting if you are back online over the weekend

As I was representing the SCCU, I feel that I should report there first.

Chris Majer undertook to issue a statement about the Chess for Schools Project on Monday. In the light of this assurance I agreed to defer publication of my report until then.

I understand that people are frustrated by the lack of news. However, we've all been waiting for so long that another 48 hours won't make very much difference.
