It looks like Nicholas Pert will win his game now.

Richard Pert still has good winning chances too but he might have to settle for a draw.

Thanks. Games appeared briefly on my mobile then refused to load again after that. Blank screen for live games page. Will be interested to see how Howell drew.

Working fine for me from Spain with very slow Broadband, yet coverage poor and not user-friendly. But don't quite see how Pert is winning shortly, Carl - a few tricks yet!

Incidentally, the other place is soooo quiet that I predict withdrawal shortly. I haven't registered and will not.

I think the two bishops were always sufficient to hold as White has no coordination.

But then I'm a rabbit...

It's still possible that Pert's game on 2 could be drawn by perpetual

I haven't worked out how he avoids checks and keeps the f pawn. But I haven't played for 18 years and have had 3 large G&Ts tonight so that may explain it.

Must have overlooked 76...Kg7. I think 77. Qf4 may have been winning but not sure.

Nope - did i miscalculate something? K+P ending is winning i think?

77...Qxf4 78. Kxf4 a4 (78...Kf6 79. Ke4) 79. Kg5 a3 80. f6+ Kg8 81. g7 Kf7 (80...a2 81. Kg6) 82. Kh6 a2 83. Kh7 +-

EDIT: Oops! 81...Kh7 -+ ;)

Luckily 81. Kh6 is still a draw!
