Is this position still open?
I sent an email expressing interest a week ago but have heard nothing - not even an acknowledgment of receipt - since.

Re: Manager of Prisons Chess
If you email Cyril Johnson at [email protected], you should get a pretty quick reply.
I did, and he has provided this information about the post:
"I would expect the manager to organise things in prisons, not travel round the country.
Whoever takes this job has the benefit of working with a largely blank canvas.
Prisons have both a floating and static populations.
The long-term establishments would like to have chess coaching and chess organising laid on for them. Local prisons have different needs and vary from establishment to establishment.
I have a contact in Prison service who the successful applicant would work with.
You would need an enhanced CRB and to be vetted by the Prison service.
Reasonable expenses would be paid."
I would have been interested if it was a paid job, but it's not, and I don't have the capacity to take it on in my spare time. Good luck to anyone who does.

I suspect this is entirely the sort of project that it would be possible to attract funding for a paid worker to deliver the project.

That's who I emailed.James Toon wrote:If you email Cyril Johnson at [email protected], you should get a pretty quick reply.
I have an enhanced CRB - albeit a little rusty now - and would be interested in working unpaid but have no time to pursue the matter for the time being. Shame. Maybe if it's still open later in the summer I'll try again.

It would appear that we now have a possible "alternate" for the current holder of this position :
