I think if theres one man who we need to respect and should be the leader of our chess federation. The person who would be the face of British chess, a powerhouse in the boardroom and allround genius........It is

Justin Horton

It's a good idea Ben.

My first act would be to restore ECF recognition of this forum and my second would be to ban you from it.
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Not really moderate as always Carl. I bet you were the kid who didnt let the other kids play with the ball when you were younger.

I took the ball away from the ones who caused me hassle yes

I make no apologies for the need to sometimes moderate (or ego trip...) as you put it...

If I was Ecf president I would put OMOV in place. I would also organise 10 minimum county simils through junior directors of respective counties in which 70% of money went to JR fund and the rest can go to the counties/another charity. That would be my first move. I would also box the chess for schools scheme as a failed venture.

That's all that matters then! This is the criteria used also by Sir Alan Michael Sugar I guess.

Let's appoint persons on their niceness quotient from now on.

Do I detect a faint whiff of questioning my integrity? :)

As I've stated at least twice on this board, I might get involved with the vacant Student Rep position once I feel I have the time to commit to it.

Jack,

In my view, the ECF would be very fortunate if you decided to stand for the role. The Federation desperately needs some energy and enthusiasm, which you would provide aplenty.

In your position I would think carefully before deciding to stand. You should try to understand what the role would entail and what support you could count on from your colleagues in the Federation. I would encourage you to sound out a few people in advance.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Peter
