Re: ECF Elections 2015
What is the Bob Kane commercial plan if we could possibly divert him from his criticism?

Re: ECF Elections 2015
Having just wasted 30 minutes of my life reading the relevant threads on the alternative forum I feel like if there was any choice at all and I didn't have to be a member of the ECF to keep my international ratings and title or play in the 4NCL / local leagues that I wouldn't bother paying the fee and would just let my membership lapse.
I was born in Germany, how much would a transfer cost?!

Go and search some of the Irish forums, great fun over there. And anyone wanting to play in that country might be forced to become a member over there depending on which way the civil war goes!

Because your rating is over 2300 and you are not resident in Germany the German federation would have to pay the ECF €2,000 plus €250 administration fee to FIDE. Hang on a moment. You're also an IM. That ups the transfer fee to €4,000 .You don't come cheap!Simon Ansell wrote:I was born in Germany, how much would a transfer cost?!

Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.

They must have plenty of spare cash after the money they received for NaiditschBrian Towers wrote:Because your rating is over 2300 and you are not resident in Germany the German federation would have to pay the ECF €2,000 plus €250 administration fee to FIDE. Shouldn't be a problem in 6 months or so, on current formBrian Towers wrote:Because your rating is over 2300Simon Ansell wrote:I was born in Germany, how much would a transfer cost?!

Might be more difficult to arrange.and you are not resident in Germany
I'll pay it myself at this rate. I was actually making a semi-serious point, I have real objections to giving any of my money to these clowns (certain individuals excluded). And they object to this forum?the German federation would have to pay the ECF €2,000 plus €250 administration fee to FIDE. You don't come cheap!

I think we might agree to waive the transfer fee if you agreed to play lots of norm tournaments in England.

Re: ECF Elections 2015
Phil Ehr's ban on Directors and Strategic Advisers posting here leaves this forum a relative ocean of peace and serenity.
Apparently the commentary set up was the same as at Aberystwyth. Perhaps the commentators had updated their machines to a lower video and audio specification, or was it that a deal with chess24 meant a higher standard was demanded? That does seem to be the sticking point in the dispute between Commercial and Home Directors.
I suppose we wait to see the John Foley statement as to whether it will propose radical concrete change or just meaningless waffle. I would suspect the latter. He should be warned that his electorate have deeply conservative values ( with a small c). Alex last year tried to abolish adjudication and failed. For that matter, the Thames Valley League of which John is the Chairman of a member club has still to abolish the practice of adjudications and adjournments.
