Should be fun when Peter goes into the chess club at the University and the person running it says do you play chess

Re: Trying to renew membership
Well Peter did play me a friendly game but i guess that does not count as a real chess game so answer is No but when he goes to university this year he may join the chess club. That is why i was checking to see what membership he may need just in case he wants to play for his university,.John Upham wrote:

It took us a while to find the chess set.

Re: Trying to renew membership
There were over 10,000 members of the ECF last season, at this point only 3,400 (nearest hundred) have renewed.
I refuse to believe that 6,600 have lost interest in chess, so why is the membership renewal rate so low.

Re: Trying to renew membership
Simple answer is that there is no incentive to renew promptly, as far as I am aware, and for many league players there's no requirement to do so until they are want to play a congress or similar.David Blower wrote:There were over 10,000 members of the ECF last season, at this point only 3,400 (nearest hundred) have renewed.

Re: Trying to renew membership
Only a third of my club will renew directly and the rest will get their bronze level membership via the county as Nottinghamshire is a MO; this will probably happen at the end of this month after our treasurer has received all the relevant information from the clubs. If you check the ECF membership list again in October it should be much nearer the 10,000 mark.
