All's well that ends well, even if the BBC website currently states
GOAL - Crystal Palace 3-1 West Ham
Dimitri Payet
Back into a Champions League spot.

Many years experience has taught me to wait for the final whistle before making rash statements but, yes, the afternoon is looking up.
Final score 1-3. Back to work!

Nice win John - get back to counting the votes. Now Wales up 16-12.

Happily I am not one of tellers, although I do have a few to cast. A single sheet is being used to capture the votes which will be collected in and counted after all the candidates have spoken.

The stakes have just been raised. Chris Majer has indicated that if Council ignores his advice not to re-elect Phil Ehr as Chief Executive, he will immediately resign as Chairman of the Governance Committee.

Why am I not surprised? The ECF placeman who has spent his entire BCF/ECF career thwarting progress

But who has not?
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Certainly in American elections there is a convention that in the light of extraordinary new information the delegates become freed of their commitments.. I just hope that my league (that did not consult with anyone) has not specified how its proxy should vote.

Andy Carroll for those that are not into the beautiful game is an old fashion centre forward. The Big Guy Up Front. Some clubs have spent many millions on him but he keeps getting lame. Been a while since West Ham had a decent centre forward. Though getting 3 in a big match in 1966 they had a legend. John's company secretary at WHU (Karren Brady) gets a bargain basement buy Andy Carroll left by Big Sam who has gone back up north.
Anyway I expect he is not a chess player - he has been out for a while & Essex have not put him into their county teams.
Though if there is a Board meeting that may get out of hand may be nice to have a Andy Carroll or Julian Dicks as an Enforcer. :D

He was initially on my board - I know how he views the ECF. The man who essentially threatened a graders' strike - if we pushed for twice yearly grading. A placeman.
