Resignation

Sarah Longson has resigned as Director of Women’s Chess due to pressure of other commitments.

She wrote “Regrettably I have come to the decision to resign from my position as Director of Women’s Chess. Since assuming the role in 2016 my commitments in running the UK Chess Challenge have increased substantially and I feel I am unable to dedicate sufficient attention to my ECF position. I believe I can do more for English chess through my work with the UK Chess Challenge – including encouraging and supporting girls both taking up the game and continuing to play throughout secondary education and beyond. I sincerely hope to be able to work with the ECF on exciting joint projects in the future.”

The Board thank Sarah for her work in the past and wish her every success in the future.
With no budget to work with and a major new under taking, it's not surprising. Better to make a success of one that can get so many more young players involved .

I stand corrected, thank you Alex, a transfer from your own budget.

It's been a long time since I last saw the ECF's figures.
