what are we going to be talking about this year?
what are we going to be talking about this year?

Apart from the usual, namely the levels of ECF spending, reserve building and how to raise the finance for it, there's likely to be a possibly acrimonious discussion about the future format of inter-county matches. That would depend on what the ECF Directors try to get through the meeting.
I recently read, in the Evening Standard (so it could be true), that Agon were moving their operation from Moscow to London in advance of the 2018 World Chess Ch. The announcement also stated it hoped to boost chess in the capital.Roger de Coverly wrote:

I suppose there's also whether the ECF should or could attempt to use Agon's World Championship match in London in some promotional manner.
In that photo, it appears that all the attendees are men. I'm sure I've been to Council meetings where that would only tie the record.Michael Farthing wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 1:54 pmThanks Brendan,
Clearly the Board is expecting a record:
(a) lack of attendance
(b) male to female ratio
(c) geriatric to youth ratio
(d) gentry to plebs ratio
John Reyes is nowhere to be seen on that photograph! - where were you, John?Brendan O'Gorman wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 10:59 amC'mon guys, you're better than this. There's this website run by the ECF which contains the following info: http://www.englishchess.org.uk/2018-fin ... l-meeting/
John would be much more formally dressed than thatReg Clucas wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 3:47 pmJohn Reyes is nowhere to be seen on that photograph! - where were you, John?Brendan O'Gorman wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 10:59 amC'mon guys, you're better than this. I think my attendance will help combat (a), (c) and (d), but perhaps not (b) at this stage...Alex Holowczak wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 2:22 pmIn that photo, it appears that all the attendees are men. I still don't know what time this meeting is taking place, and what the venue is!Brendan O'Gorman wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 10:59 amC'mon guys, you're better than this. There's this website run by the ECF which contains the following info: http://www.englishchess.org.uk/2018-fin ... l-meeting/
It is in London during the afternoon, what more do you want?Adam Raoof wrote: ↑Sat Mar 10, 2018 1:21 pmI still don't know what time this meeting is taking place, and what the venue is!Brendan O'Gorman wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 10:59 amC'mon guys, you're better than this. To be fair, that's the only detail that Council ever agrees. A venue and start time is communicated when notice of the meeting is sent out, which isn't for a few weeks yet.Mick Norris wrote: ↑Sat Mar 10, 2018 1:30 pmIt is in London during the afternoon, what more do you want?Adam Raoof wrote: ↑Sat Mar 10, 2018 1:21 pmI still don't know what time this meeting is taking place, and what the venue is!Brendan O'Gorman wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 10:59 amC'mon guys, you're better than this.
