The Major Open looks better too. These things are connected, obvs
Point is that the overall significantly lower numbers, and higher average strength of the field, has the practial effect of lowering the likely expected winning score.
I doJonathan Bryant wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 12:46 pmI’ll go for a winning score of 7.5/9. Don’t know who will get it
Unfortunately, the DGT board you were using did not function, so I was unable to see the game. Good luck in the rest of the tournament. 7/9 would not be too shabby.....Kevin Thurlow wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 1:22 pm"Rick McMichael 8/9 outright"
I think he would be pleased with that! Our game did fluctuate a bit, but every time I got back into it, he created difficulties. Luckily, I like to play good opposition.
I'll vote for Adams 8/9.
In that case, Roger de Coverley with 7.5/9Jonathan Rogers wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 8:14 pmFor the millionth time, it is the spirit of fun, not really a competition to be "right"
I'll put a fiver to back Rick if someone wants to see me lose money! Can someone give me five to one? All winnings to a good charity?Martin Benjamin wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 12:58 pmRick McMichael 8/9 outright. Maybe heart overruling head, because of family connection. However, Leicester City proved that the unthinkable can happen.
I think Roger will definitely gets some points but as he's still to get off the mark after two rounds that target may be a little beyond him.Keith Arkell wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 1:50 pmIn that case, Roger de Coverley with 7.5/9Jonathan Rogers wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 8:14 pmFor the millionth time, it is the spirit of fun, not really a competition to be "right"
Which is why it is always worth trying to struggle on to move 25 just to avoid the "m" wordChristopher Kreuzer wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 3:46 pmEDIT: A miniature in Zapolskis-Thurlow (1-0 in 18 moves). Even shorter game in Murphy-Tan (0-1 in 15 moves).
Must be something in the water today. Emms-Zakarian ended 1-0 in 22 moves, but was resignable on move 17 (games under 20 moves are 'true' miniatures, IMO).Brian Towers wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 4:27 pmWhich is why it is always worth trying to struggle on to move 25 just to avoid the "m" wordChristopher Kreuzer wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 3:46 pmEDIT: A miniature in Zapolskis-Thurlow (1-0 in 18 moves).
