There is no point in a competition that no one enters and hasn't done so for around 15 to 20 years.

With a new ECF Director of Home Chess due to be elected at the ECF Annual Council Meeting on 13th October, surely the appropriate course of action is for you to lobby the candidates to adopt this and other policies important to you as the price of your support.

The photograph long predates the 4NCL which has largely taken over. Obviously I can't speak for the ECF but if a private individual or group feel they make the national club work I'm sure they would be able to take it on.

That said, this time next week candidates for Director of Home Chess should be known and it will be interesting to see who stands and what policies they will pursue.

It wouldn't be a "club" competition, but the only design for a national knockout or even Swiss that might have some chance of attracting entries would be one based around eligibility determined by 4NCL or county squads.
