I have a distinct recollection of a game played long ago by Michael Basman in which he gave up a rook for apparently negligible compensation and, many moves later, forced his opponent's resignation. Chess mordantly headed the game (printed without notes) "Caution - This game may cause permanent brain damage".
The young James Plaskett was very enthusiastic about it, as I recall.
I have searched through my back volumes of Chess and looked through a few more in the British Library but can't find it.
Can anyone point me to it?

The game is Nicholson-Basman played in 1974, and is in the January 1975 edition of Chess. "Danger: this game could cause permanent brain damage" is the only annotation to the game, which began 1 e4 e6 2 d4 Ne7

I had thought that Basman's victim was Nicholson, and it turns out that I was right.
Unfortunately although the index for volume 40 of Chess gives 21 page references for games by Basman, it doesn't give the reference to this game; and while the index gives two page references for games by Nicholson (another Nicholson, as it happens) it omits this one.
But on page 110, there we are, indeed.
Now to endanger some grey cells...
