Remembering IM Čeněk Kottnauer (24-ii-1910 14-ii-1996)
I'm surprised myself with this article not least because I had not appreciated the true strength of Čeněk Kottnauer.
Čeněk (pronounced CHEnek) was undoubtedly of GM strength and had his playing career continued in Czechoslovakia he would have attained the title.
I would like to thank the following for their contributions :
Daniel Kottnauer (his son)
Tim Harding
Leonard Barden
Bernard Cafferty
Richard James
James Pratt
Douglas Griffin
