The unsurpassable saint?

I read Diggle's Reminiscences of a Bad Master quite often as I have never found anyone with a sense of humour anything like his, and since on this most recent re-read I found his character studies more in depth and amusing than what I did previously, I thought I'd delve further and found this
and wondered whether Geoffrey has bettered himself with what is quoted here, does anyone have anything they are particularly fond of concerning his writings? I don't have access to everything he's written but have a fair amount. To me, he seems to be unsurpassable in his ability to come out with punchlines and character assassinations. Anyway, just wanted to share that one as that's him at his best to me.
Which other 'chess journalist/historian' writes with a sense of humour like Diggle did?
