BCN remembers Remembering Dr. IM Stefan (István) Fazekas (23-iii-1898 03-v-1967)

Arrived in England in 1939 from Hungary.

1957 British Champion and IM in 1952.

He was the oldest person to win the British Championship at 59.

Successful correspondence player and composer of problems in his youth.

Famously not selected for the 1958 Olympiad despite being reigning champion.
